When Preston was around 2 yrs old he would sneak out our front door and disappear. He would be with me one minute and gone the next. We quickly out smarted him and put a lock on the top of the door. That was the end of wandering until recently. He has four houses on our street that he frequents. I don't mind him playing with his friends....they are all good little boys. What I do mind is that when one friend cant play, he moves on to the next house. When its time for him to come home, I cant find him! How do you get into a little boys head that that is not an ok thing to do! It scares me when I cannot find him... Today I told him that if he doesn't tell me where he is, he will be grounded from his friends. That would be torture to my very social Preston!

thats usually what i tell my kids....i have to either be able to see them from my windows if they are playing outside. if they brake that rule they come in. period. then we try again. they usually are very good about staying in the areas they are told. if they go into someones house WITHOUT me knowing then they are in for the rest of the playtime. i freak out if i don't know where they are and they need to know that i mean business and i would most likely say yes if they would JUST ASK ME FIRST. as they get older of course the "play area" gets bigger and is not always in my window view.... Emma's outside rules are a little different than the younger ones because she is older but if she is with them than she is expected to be where i can see them.
You probably need to take him there yourself. You used to do the same thing when you were little!
"The Containment of Little Boys" (someone needs to write a book with that title) They'd make a whole heck of alot of money!
It seems so hard when they are little ones, because they depend on us...but I think we have a whole new "batch" of things to worry about when they start to get older and get some independence...
then you start to think,"where ARE my kids?" :)
